Stick or Pad?
What is your weapon of choice? Personally, I'm comfortable with either so long as the pad has a good dpad. I use my own custom arcade stick for it most of the time at home but cause I also play the PSP version, I'm used to pad as well.

I think honestly a real skilled player will always perform better with a stick than a pad, there are motions that are simply easier to produce with a stick.
But I've found when beginner players try to make a transition from pad to stick they have severe issues if they didn't play in arcades at all.Posted on Jun 5, 2011 at 11:05 AM

Generally people who uses stick are better than people on pad but that is mainly due to the arcade versions of Tekken come out first before the console so players get better using a stick before the console players. That isn't to say that there aren't any good pad players as I've seen some brilliant pad players in tournaments. Really it comes down to whatever you are comfortable with.Posted on Jun 5, 2011 at 3:45 PM

You NEED to post a pic of your custom stick :)
To be honnest, never tried with a stick, does it change the gameplay that much ?Posted on Jun 8, 2011 at 2:09 PM

I actually have a couple but here is one of them:

That one is for show more than to use cause it breaks so easily (and I want to keep it genuine without glue or drilling).
Anyway, tbh I don't think it changes the gameplay much. It helps when pressing 2 buttons that are awkward like for example Lars' f2+3 attack and I find easier to do Hwoarang's JSFR combos but I can do them on pad just not as consistently. As I've said before, it just comes down to whatever people find comfortable. Although some pro stick Tekken players say that it is like playing a ghost when playing someone on pad because you can't hear them hitting the buttons but when playing online, you can't hear it anyway.Posted on Jun 8, 2011 at 5:11 PM

I was always a pad player for Tekken games but I switched over to stick during T5:DR. I found it tough at first and just practiced on ghost mode until I was comfortable.Posted on Jun 14, 2011 at 6:49 PM
