YES For once an ace combat that didnt loose my interest half way through the campaign edge of my seat throughout with explosions close up intense dogfights and stunning visuals. SOme people argue rthat the DFM takes away from the pilot being able to use hisher own flying skill to take out a bandit but I say you can use alot of your own flying skill to get onto your enemies ' 'six' in the first place. Assault Horizon haas brought the Action to the Ace Combat series in my opinion. The way you get to know the pilots in the game makes the whole title more immersive. Previously youwould have to imagine what your pilots were like and how they would act but now you feel closer to the pilots in the game. I preferred the real world locations in this ace combatbut some ace combat fans might argue that they preferred the fantasy locations. The visuals in Assault horizon are amazing and even the visasls in Fires of Liberation didnt measure up to this ace combat. The gamplay is more dynamic and interesting all around taking on the heli missions, bombing missions. The close ups and visuals of the enemy planes being shredded by machine gun fire and missles added to the of the dogfight. ( Maybe a liitle less realistic for some players with the DFM but a hell of alot more fun . .. ) The helicopter missions are exciting and the link between aerial and ground warfare comes together. The heli controls when in third person were fine I thought but playing it in cockpit view the controls were just no good. One problem that I had with this game and I have had It with all th ace combat games is that the instrumentation in the cockpits is poor. You can barely see you pitch and speed indications on the screen and if the idea is too have HUD these readings should surely follow the pilot when you swivel your head to look around you. I think it would be good if the speed aircraft condition radar etc. would be displayed on the control panel in the cockpits aswell as in the HUD. The game is a great step in the series and I fell that the monotony during the campaigns of the earlier games is pretty much dealth with . Im yet to play online as my xbox gold membership is expired :(Posted on Dec 23, 2011 at 2:52 PM

I agree with all that. On the subject of DFM, there is skill involved. In the Multiplayer arena, first of all positioning the plane to activate DFM is challenging as stated! Then when initiaing DFM with another player, & keeping them in your sights, while they try & wriggle out of your DFM challenge is also tough work! I appreciate in the single player mode there is a bit of cutscene / DFM which is maybe putting a lot of people off this, but I feel quite rewarded after engaging DFM online & skirmishing with another player resulting in a kill!!Posted on Jan 1, 2012 at 2:03 AM

Also meant to say...I`m not an AC purist or anything, think I played it on the PS1 many moons ago!!! When this game first came out I was going to buy it, but I had to use money for other things at the time. Like most games when they first come out, ACAH has come down in price quite a bit now. I got it for nearly half the price at my local supermarket! Its well worth it!!Posted on Jan 1, 2012 at 2:17 AM

I think its a fantastic game. I am an AC purist, & I can overlook most faults with the games. I enjoy them all. The fact that you can fly true bombers & helicopters is great. the DFM & ASM add to the game. In the other games I never really used the MG's because it just to easy using missiles. Now I take great delight in shredding my enemies with MG fire.Posted on Jan 3, 2012 at 8:13 PM
